Saint Charles Hill The Great

Archbishop of Asheville and Patriarch and Pontiff of the Ancient Catholic Church, Global 

Saint Charles Hill the Great beginning his ministry in the African Methodist Episcopal Church Zion which he pastored in for 14 years. Upon leaving the AMEZ, he became active in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC), at which time he traveled across the country preaching and working in the field of evangelism under the leadership of the late Bishop Wyoming Wells. Bishop Hill later met with Bishop Moore, Bishop Thomas, and Bishop Metz. They then formed Ambassadors for Christ Ministries of America in 1980. Bishop Hill was elected to the office of Bishop and consecrated in 1987.

In 1997, His Eminence was elected to Presiding Bishop and Chairman of the Board of Bishops. On June 7, 2009 he was joined the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches (CEEC), a Charismatics Anglican Church and was consecrated and brought into an Anglican Apostolic Succession by Archbishop Kenneth Grimble.

After talks concerning his future role and jurisdiction within the CEEC broke down, Bishop Hill soon left the CEEC and later joined the Holy Catholic Church International (HCCI), led by its Patriarch Saint Heyward "Paul" Ewart III. He was consecrated "sub-conditione" and brought into their Old Catholic Apostolic Succession at the hands of Saint Williams Malloy by the decree of the Patriarch, being made Archbishop within the HCCI while still retaining autonomous leadership of AFCMOA. After some time had passed, Archbishop Hill was granted a canonical leave from the HCCI, leading his jurisdiction as Patriarch.

One the 31st of August, 2015, His Holiness was invited to become a standing voting member of the Worldwide Communion of Catholic apostolic Churches by the invitation of the Most Reverend John Parnell, Prime of the Mexican National Catholic Church, and the President of the WCCAC and the Most Reverend Daniel Clay, then Archbishop within the Mexican National Catholic Church and the WCCAC Chancellor. After his departer from the WCCAC for their unjust and illegal acts, His Holiness Charles Hill would later rejoin the WCCAC at the invitation of the new president, His Beatitude Patriarch Trevor Elihu Greene, being received back as "Archbishop of Asheville and Patriarch of the Ancient Catholic Church, Global".

 

In 2016, Patriarch Charles Hill was elected and recognized as "Cardinal-Patriarch" of the AFCMOA by the Pontiff of the Ancient Catholic Church during their Holy Convocation.

In July of 2017, as Patriarch Hill passed his See to his successor Archbishop Frank Bobo, Patriarch Hill assumed the position of Supreme Pontiff and Patriarch of the Ancient Catholic Church (an Old Catholic Church).
Patriarch Charles Hill held an Associates Degree in Business Management, double Bachelors Degree in Religious Education and Pastoral Counseling, double Masters in Church Administration and Clinical Psychology, a Doctorate of Divinity, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Theology, and Leadership Training. Patriarch Hill traveled all over the world preaching the gospel and teaching, conducting seminars, leadership workshops, etc.

His Holiness Charles Hill fell asleep in the Lord on the 28th of September, 2025. He was buried with his dearly departed wife, the Right Reverend Angelique Hill. Both he and his wife were canonized saints and Doctors of the Catholic Church by the Patriarchate of the West-Indies and the WCCAC in November of 2025, with His Holiness being canonized "Saint Charles the Great of Asheville".
