The Constitution of
The United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church
PREAMBLE:
We, the people of The Caribbean Patriarchate, united with brotherly love by the grace of our God, and the power of the Holy Spirit, to bear witness of the birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by the study of His Sacred Scriptures, the Holy Bible, and by the lifestyle of righteousness and holiness which we shall live by God’s grace. In order that the witness of this ministry may be born and carried out in accordance with Scriptural doctrines; that its worship, teachings, ministry and fellowship may be conducted in harmony with Christian principles; and that its business affairs may be administered in an orderly fashion and in a responsible manner consistent with Biblical teachings, we do adopt and set forth this constitution and its accompanying Canon Laws and Bylaws. This orthodox and catholic Church honors the governments that we hold Church embassies within, which is in accordance with Scripture. The Holy Caribbean Patriarchate is an autocephalous Church, holding complete autonomy. The Caribbean Patriarchate and all Churches and/or ministries under its jurisdiction are officially governed by Theocracy, with JEHOVAH GOD the Father as the supreme head, the Lord Jesus Christ as the Prince of Life, the Holy Spirit as the supreme Counselor, the Holy Scriptures as its supreme law book, and the Holy Synod led by the Patriarch of the West-Indies as the governing body. All laws of the land, be it local, state, national, or international, that come into direct or indirect conflict with the doctrines, Canons, and/or Constitution of the Holy Caribbean Patriarchate, based upon the Scriptures of the Bible and the apostolic traditon of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, will be considered heresy and unlawful within the bounds of this Church.
PROCLAMATION I - NAME
Be it decreed and known that this Church shall be officially known as “The United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church”, with the allowed and respectfully shorter identity would be known as “The Caribbean Patriarchate”. The name of this Church cannot be changed by any amendment to the Canon Laws or Constitution by any person, organization, or government outside this Church at any time, per the tradition of the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.
PROCLAMATION II - PURPOSE
Be it decreed and known that the purpose of our Church fellowship is to glorify God and manifest His character to our communities by: 1. Worship of God the Father through Jesus Christ by the power of the All-Holy Ghost, Blessed Trinity, amen. 2. Building individual disciples to full maturity in Christ. 3. Emphasizing in “daily discipleship ministries” based on individual spiritual gifts. 4. Building strong family relationships as the foundation of society. 5. Training our children, by our God given rights, in the grace and law of Jesus Christ. 6. Ministering to one another's physical and spiritual needs through fellowship among those in the Body of Christ, His Church. 7. Bringing non-believers to faith in Christ both locally and world-wide. 8. Working with other likeminded Christians on all levels of ministry to bring the unity of the faith once delivered unto the saint as described in Ephesians chapter four.
PROCLAMATION III - BELIEFS
Section A - Ecumenical Councils
Be it decreed and known that our Church fellowship recognizes and respects the Heavenly authority of the following Ecumenical Decrees listed below:
1. The Didache of the Apostles
2. The Canons of the Holy and Altogether August Apostles set forth by Clement, Bishop of the Roman Church
3. First Council of Nicea, 325 A.D.
4. First Council of Constantinople, 381 A.D.
5. First Council of Ephesus, 431 A.D., however a) the Caribbean Patriarchate recognizes Archbishop Nestorius as being wrongfully removed from his position and a Doctor and saint in the Catholic Church.
6. Council of Chalcedon, 451 A.D.
7. Second Council of Constantinople, 553 A.D.
8. Third Council of Constantinople, 680-681 A.D., Council of Trullo (Quinisext Council), 692 A.D. with exception to several specifically named canons within our Canon Law books.
9. Second Council of Nicea, 787 A.D.
10. Fourth Council of Constantinople, 879-880 A.D.
11. The Council of Crete, 2016 A.D.
We the United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church, while holding certain exceptions concerning the judgments of these past Councils, do accept these as Ecumenical decrees, while in anticipation to participate and obey the canons of another Ecumenical Council led of the All-Holy Spirit; we also do hold to the canons of the 1st Council of Nicea, holding Synods of our own to properly govern the Church. Be it decreed and known, that if a particular canon of a Council contradicts the text or decrees of the Holy Scripture, prior authoritative Ecumenical Council canon(s), or Sacred Apostolic Tradition, be it from a Canon of the hierarchs of the Caribbean Patriarchate, another Church Prelate, or one of the Ancient Apostolic Fathers, the authority of the first canon of the older Ecumenical Council is to remain authoritative over the latter, with the Holy Scriptures retaining primacy and authority over all, as it is written “forever o Lord, Thy word is settled in Heaven”. The contradictory canon will then be counted as null and void, while keeping the Council itself intact.
Section B - Statement of Faith
Be it decreed and known that we adhere to the Creed of the Holy Caribbean Patriarchate:
• We Believein one God, JEHOVAH (YHWH) the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible, who is infinite in power, holy in nature, attributes, and purposes, as well as omniscient and omnipresent.
• We Believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the second person of the Blessed Trinity; the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made: who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; that His is the only saving name, and whatsoever we do in word or in deed must all be in the name of Jesus to the honor of God the Father, and He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end.
• We Believe in the Holy Ghost, the third person of the Blessed Trinity; the Lord, Comforter and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father through the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who speaks by the Apostles and Prophets.
• We Believe in holy sanctified living, divine healing, blessings, prosperity, and communion in one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of God which is Theocratic under the sovereign authority of God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and is separate from all secular governmental entities past, present, and future. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins into the name of God the Father, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, and of the Holy Spirit; we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
• We Believe We Believe that God is continually shining truth and light to His Church; that we place no limit on revelation and that all must be substantiated according to theHoly Synod, the Scriptures and Sacred Tradition, Amen. We fully agree with and adhere to the traditional Nicene Creed, or the Nicene-Constantinoplean Creed which states: “We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets; And we believe in one, holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. We look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the age to come. Amen.” We fully agree with and adhere to The Apostle’s Creed which states: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.” We accept these large areas of doctrinal teaching on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all true Christians. We agree that any interpretation is based upon the Apostolic Tradition and Faith which begins with Sacred Scripture, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the ministry to which God has called us.
PROCLAMATION IV - GOVERNMENT
Be it decreed and known that the government of this Church fellowship shall be under the Theocratic Lordship of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, and under the leadership of the All-Holy Spirit as exercised through the Church fellowship presiding Patriarch of the West-Indies in communion with the Holy Synod, the college of Apostles and Bishops. The Holy Synod members will be assisted in this capacity by various officers, committees and staff as set forth in the Holy Caribbean Patriarchate Canon Laws.
PROCLAMATION V - MEMBERSHIP
Be it decreed and known that any individual who makes a genuine profession of faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, may undertake the procedures outlined in the canons and bylaws and become a full member of the Holy Caribbean Patriarchate.
PROCLAMATION VI - COVENANT OF DISCIPLESHIP
Section A – Introduction
Be it decreed and known that the revelation of our God as demonstrated by His love for us requires a response on our part. A part of this response in the Scriptures was often exemplified in the making of covenants to one another. For this reason we have included a covenant commitment to this local body of believers who are to serve as our brothers and sisters and bear the responsibility for our growth in grace and in the knowledge of our God as Savior. Through this commitment we acknowledge our desire to grow in obedience to God. We are to be concerned for both the physical and spiritual well-being of each other (Galatians 6) and are to encourage one another daily so that we do not turn away from the Savior (Hebrews 3:15). Since we bear a responsibility for each other before the Lord, we are to stimulate one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24) and are to acknowledge our need for one another.
Section B - Basis for the Covenant
Be it decreed and known that the basis upon which we are able to make a covenant with each other as members of the Holy Caribbean Patriarchate is as follows:
1. We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, as well as the oracular teachings of the Clergy are the spoken words of God, and therefore are, with respect to the Lord Himself, the standing final authority in our lives;
2. We believe that, because of our sinfulness, we need a Savior and that we, therefore, cannot trust in our own works, but must trust in Jesus Christ alone, the Living and True Word of God, and in the sufficiency of His works in and through us;
3. We acknowledge Jesus Christ as the sovereign Lord of our lives and believe that, by the grace of Christ, the will of the Father, and the presence of the All-Holy Spirit, we can serve the Lord and turn from whatever displeases Him to a life that is pleasing to God;
4. We believe that this congregation of God's people will help us to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our God and Savior and are willing to submit to the authority of the spiritual leadership of this congregation as those who uphold its Constitution, who care for our spiritual well-being, and who must give an account to the Lord on the Great Day of Judgment.
Section C - Commitments of the Covenant
Upon this basis, therefore, we covenant together as members of the Caribbean Apostolic Church to lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him. We promise, by the aid of the All-Holy Spirit, to worship the Triune God in spirit and in truth, privately and publicly, in our families, and together as the Body of Christ; and to obey God in every area of our lives as an expression of our worship of Him. We also promise to exhibit a Christ-like character in our individual lives, in our families, in the church, and in every area where we have influence, as a witness to the world of the reality of the living God; to exhibit a Christ-like care and watchfulness over each other by faithfully encouraging, exhorting, and admonishing one another that each of us may grow in our obedience to and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of our life; to demonstrate our love for the Lord and our loyalty to one another by warning and rebuking another brother who may be overtaken in a fault or sin according to the steps in Matthew 18:14- 17; to employ each and every member's gifts to the furtherance of the Church's purity, worship, and building up of the Body of Christ; and to train our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We further promise to give of our time, talent and means in the measure that God has prospered us so that we might share with those in need, first within the Body of Christ, and then in the community and throughout the world, as a witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and to commit ourselves to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world. Being mindful of our own weaknesses and insufficiency, and knowing that of ourselves we can do nothing, we humbly implore God's help and guidance in our solemn endeavor to fulfill this Covenant.
