The Bishop of Thomonde, Haiti
Status: Vacant
Overseen by The Patriarch, +Trevor 'Elihu Greene

It was by God’s will that the Patriarchate of the West Indies, after being relegated to a Titular status, then made to lay dormant for decades, and would be separated from the Roman Catholic Church and restored to use under the banner of the United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church, led His Beatitude the Most Reverend Lord Trevor ‘Elihu’ Greene, Metropolitan Archbishop of Port of Spain and 36th Patriarch of the Caribbean West-Indies.

The need for expansion and the formation of new bishops for the Caribbean came before the Patriarch in his prayers and contemplation. In late-2022, the Patriarchate reached out to clergy in Haiti in a formal introduction and discussions of unity and covering after their wrongful release from another 'Christian ecclesial community'. After much dialogue and prayer between them, the Holy Synod of the Church agreed that a need was present to be met, and “an Orthodox Metropolitan Archdiocese of Haiti” was to be formed immediately, being canonically seen as the Orthodox Catholic Church of Haiti.

In the Spring and Fall of 2023, the Patriarchate held the 1st & 2nd Antilles Synods. It was at these sessions that, after much talks and careful examination of the clergy (interviewing each clergyman, review of holy orders, theological agreements, etc.), the Haitian Clergy were formally received into the Church. It was formally agreed upon that the Clergy would undergo a time of preparation and ordination under the direct and immediate archpastoral care of the Patriarch until such a time as when the Lord will raise up the Church's first bishops for the Church of Haiti.

In Summer of 2024, the Holy Synod of Prelates declared the creation of the Province of Haiti's first diocese, "the Diocese of Thomonde", found in the Center Department of Haiti. The new Bishop is to be consecrated in July of 2025.
