The Department of
Canon Law

The Department of Canon Law is here to assist the Clergy and laity of each region in the administration of justice to diocesan subjects in a timely manner. The Canon Law Department equips Clergy and laity to serve as canonists, canon lawyers, researchers, and notaries. This office functions as the church's legal department of religious and administrative affairs. Our purpose is two-fold: the first is to safeguard the rights of all Christians in the Caribbean Patriarchate, from the Senior Apostle to the new convert. The second is to act as a trial court for contentious cases referred to it by the Bishop. The Department of Canon Law is set to assist and competent to hear matters such as marriage annulments, answer questions from the public regarding church law (and speak to parish and other groups) as well as be a resource to the hierarchs and other diocesan officials, address penal cases involving the diocesan bishop and his workers and flock, Church structural issues, etc.

The department is also a resource to the hierarchs and other diocesan officials in that it grants certain dispensations in the name of the hierarchy and faculties to visiting clergy.

All canonical positions of the Caribbean Apostolic Church are clearly laid out in our Canon Law Book, "Gold Standard: The Canon Laws of The United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church: Second Edition". Click here to order a copy.

As an autocephalous synod, the United Holy Caribbean Apostolic Church outlines her specific canons to govern her churches accordingly. In addition to the local synodal canons, the Caribbean Patriarchate *accepts* the several Church Councils and their dogmas.
